Rezekne Academy of Technologies

Rezekne Academy of Technologies (RTA) is a dynamic, active, and developing state founded non-university type higher education institution since 1925 with unlimited international accreditation located in Latvia – a beautiful and safe country which is one of the European Union member states and is situated in the north of Europe – on the shores of the Baltic Sea.

As the sixth-largest state-founded higher education institution in Latvia, we aim to provide competitive European-level academic and professional higher education and foster research.

Across its three faculties, the Academy provides studies leading to bachelor, master, or doctoral degree.

Co-curricular activities are an important part of our students` life. There is a lot of opportunities to meet new friends, share common interests with other students and make life at RTA fun and memorable. RTA students are welcome to join our folk-dance group Dziga and choir Sonitum. Students also actively participate in sports activities and in the Student Council realizing various initiatives. Wide range of traditions, such as European Researchers` Night, Law Days, Engineering Days, Knowledge Day, and others, is another way and opportunity for our students to express themselves.

Iveta Mietule

Iveta Mietule graduated from Rezekne Higher Education Institution (Rēzeknes Augstskola – in Latvian) in 1996, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Economics and a professional qualification in Financial Management. She continued her studies at the University of Latvia and obtained a master's degree in Economics. In 2009, she defended her doctoral dissertation and obtained a doctoral degree in Economics.

In 1996, Iveta Mietule started working at Rezekne Higher Education Institution. She has been the Dean of the RTA Faculty of Economics and Management for six years, and has actively participated in international projects and the development of joint study programmes with foreign universities.

I. Mietule is the Director of the doctoral study programme “Economics and Entrepreneurship”. Her research work is related to human resources, regional development, higher education and digitization, attaching great importance to cooperation with state and regional policy makers. Professor is an author of more than 50 publications and 3 monographs. I. Mietule has participated in and contributed to more than 15 projects and programmes, including FRONTEX, ERDF, ESF, INTERREG, ERASMUS, the National Research Program, and the development of the Latgale Region Development Strategy “Latgale Strategy 2030”.

I. Mietule is a member of the Latvian Association of University Professors, an expert of the Latvian Science Council in the field of economics and management sciences. Since 2015, Professor actively participates in the development of professional standards at the national level as an industry expert.

Kristīne Brangule-Vlagsma

During her long career at the European Commission, Kristine has gained considerable experience in managing key strategic and operational functions. She has worked in senior positions in DG Economic and Financial Affairs and DG Competition, where she was responsible for financial management and strategic planning. Academic and research experience gained at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy), the Erasmus University (Rotterdam, Netherlands), and the University of Groningen. She holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Central European University in Prague.

Irēna Beinaroviča-Litvinova

Irena Beinarović-Litvinova has 23 years of experience in organising, managing and controlling the accounting department of the Rezekne Academy of Technologies, ensuring clear and fair disclosure of information about the RTA's business processes and financial results.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a qualification in Finance and Accounting Management, a Master's degree in Social Sciences and a Master's degree in Management, with the subject of her research being internal control systems and auditing.

She has participated in several working committees and working groups established by RTA, which were related to strategic and management processes.

She has gained experience in international cooperation, participating in several international strategic partnership projects, acting as financial manager of the managing partner, planning, controlling, reallocating financial budgets and reporting on the use of relevant financial resources to the European Union controlling authorities.

Voldemārs Brēdiķis

He has managed and developed a number of companies in four different countries in various service sectors - professional services, real estate and infrastructure development, environmental protection, international trade, education and asset management. He has a wide experience in the educational industry, including international cooperation between higher education institutions and education export, and was one of the founders of the School of Technical Education and Creativity with the aim to develop products for children and young people in engineering and digital skills with a STEAM approach. V. Brēdiķis holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Latvia.

Jānis Priede

Jānis Prieda holds a Master's and a PhD in Economics from the University of Latvia. Jānis Priede combines his academic knowledge with extensive international experience, having completed internships at Columbia University in New York, the Fulda University of Applied Sciences in Germany, the University of Iceland and others. J. Priede is the Head of the Scientific Council of the Latvian Productivity Council and a member of the Editorial Board of the National Encyclopaedia. He is a professor at the University of Latvia and Head of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Business, Management and Economics of the University of Latvia, a visiting professor at Riga Graduate School of Law, University of Tartu and Fulda University of Applied Sciences in Germany.

Inese Novika

Professional experience in the legal field since 2002. She has been working at Rezekne Academy of Technologies as a lawyer since 2010., giving lectures to students. Has been the director of the bachelor study programme "Law" in professional higher education. She has professional experience and knowledge of the basic principles of public administration, as well as practical experience in the management of governance processes and international cooperation and knowledge of the RTA's structure, basic functions, work organisation and remuneration policy. I. Novika holds a professional Master's degree in Law from Rezekne University.
