The Faculty of Education, Languages and Design implements studies and research in the social sciences and humanities, developing the fields of education, social work and design.
The Faculty of Education, Languages and Design is a structural unit of the Rezekne Academy of Technologies, which implements the study process and research in social sciences and humanities, developing the field of education, social work and design. The Faculty offers prospective teachers education for work at different stages of education - from pre-school to secondary school. The Faculty also offers study and research opportunities in special education, developing skills in planning and implementing inclusive pedagogical processes and in correcting developmental disabilities. In the field of design, students study interior design in their undergraduate studies, while in the Master's programme, they carry out interdisciplinary research and develop design projects using a graphic, fashion or environmental design as a dominant theme. The Faculty prepares social work specialists who are able to assess the complex social needs of individuals, groups and society, to research and solve social problems and promote positive changes in the quality of life through the provision of social services.
The Faculty offers academic and professional bachelor, master and doctoral study programmes. The faculty's teaching staff offers various professional competence development programmes in lifelong learning and implements diverse national and international projects involving students.
The education received at the Faculty enables students to compete in the labour market, as the study process is focused on the implementation of competence-based education, combining theoretical studies with practice, promoting students' creative and critical thinking, and the development of leadership skills.
The Regional Studies Research Institute, a unit of the Faculty of Education, Languages and Design, is the only scientific institution in the Baltics dedicated to the development of regional studies as a new branch of science. The Institute works in the field of humanities and social sciences.
